Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
